Getting there … slowly
Hey folks,
Just a quick little post to let the ones amongst you that wonder how things are (and amongst those for the ones that actually care) know that I'm slowly getting back on my feet, with, unfortunately, the emphasis very much on 'slowly'.
It is still hugely taxing to get through a day, and the amount of energy that it costs ... well, paramount is the first word that springs to mind. I'm destroyed, done with, completely over, when I get home after having yawned the whole day together. And it's not like I actually produce anything significant all in terms of work, the amount of concentration needed to get through the day is insane. I make mistakes, have to rewrite just about everything I do twice, its useless.
And when the evening passes and I can finally go to bed, my head takes over and ever so often starts pondering about those two words that have caused the whole world to loose sleep like no two other words probably have: what if. The result is that getting to sleep is taking a long, long time and when I finally do get to sleep I wake up a few times a night. No longer every night though, just every other night or so. But way too often just the same.
I've been told that nothing of what happened s my fault, etc, etc, but that just is nowhere near as comforting as it probably should be. It only raises so many more questions in my case and its killing me, it truly is.
And here I was, trying to convince the lot of you that things are on an uprise ... well I guess you can draw your own conclusions, can't you?
2010 – The year … we lost contact
WB! Um ... hello? Guys? You guys still out there? Well, I honestly can't blame you if you're not. After all, this seriously unannounced one year sabbatical happened rather unexpectedly.
So Biek ... gone for a year, have you? Well no, not really. Not actually gone as in no longer being there. I've just been pretty bus ... okay, I'll admit, It looks like I've just been tremendously lazy, but, even though there have definitely been moments of those, that's not the whole truth. Things, you know, 'stuff' happened, which shifted my attention to other facets of life. Like what? Well like classic race events, rally cars and, well, girls to be honest.
'Ah', I hear some of you shout in excitement, 'finally'! Well, now that I've got your full attention again, please allow me to get you guys up to speed on what I did in twenty-ten. The shortest possible version is that I've bought me a few extra cars and that I've met the most wonderful girl anyone could ever wish for.
But wait, hang on! I'll give you a longer version as well in the upcoming few weeks. Over time, I will update you guys on the past year. Even though I haven't been writing posts visible to the lot of you, I actually have well over ten thousand words of drafts ready to unleash. So stick around and you'll be fully up to date in a matter of weeks.
So again, welcome back to you my trusty followers, I hope you'll enjoy this bit of not so recent history. Let's have at it!
Ps.: Oh, and a very happy New Year to you all of course. :-)
One man leaving
In a conversation with Geralt he has let us know that he’ll be leaving the company. Unfortunately, he still has tremendous trouble coping with the hectic day to day basis on the Servicedesk, and he doesn’t see himself adjusting as much as needed to be able to sustain his tasks.
Sad to see him go, I had really hoped that this would be a good spot for him. Sadly, though, you never know these things up front.
Second interview
Today we had that kid from last week over for his second interview and that too went rather well. We’ll take him in for the Servicedesk team and will start training and breaking him in.
Another new guy
Apparently, one of the people at our service branch (the outdoor service department) had over to interview as mechanic looked like having more to bring to the table and did a kind of try out at the Servicedesk yesterday afternoon.
He’s an ok guy, good sense of humor and keen to get going. We’ve given him the okay from the Servicedesk, so we’ll see if he makes it to our team or not. That’s up to management now.
Job interviews
No no, not to worry. It wasn’t for me, I still have my job. And it's a good job, so I'm planning on keeping it. :-)
The interviews were for the new Servicedesk employee we’re looking for at work, and since I’m now more or less the one that runs the SD it’s my task to interview and select the right person.
By request, Hans joined me for the interviews and it was good to see we both looked at different aspects of the people we had coming over. It also kind of proved my point that I needed some assistance in that field. In the end we agreed that there really was only one suitable guy among them so we’re having him over for a second meet soon.
New Year’s diner work
We went to the Wijnfort with work to enter the New Year in style. It was an okay place, though I guess that if you drink you could have had a little more fun than I did. Some people couldn’t keep measure though, and drank too much. If there is one thing I just can’t stand its people going way over the edge because it is free or on someone else’s tab. Losers.
Most of the evening I spend talking with a colleague and his ex (but luckily not so ex at the moment) wife, who are both very nice folk.
Visiting mom
I was at my mom's and Hans’ place this afternoon to wish them a happy New Years in person. As per usual we had a very nice afternoon together, talking about life, the universe and everything. In the end it luckily all still added up to 42. :-)
