The Cars

Since I'm pretending to be a bit of a car freak I thought it was about time to make a summary of all the cars I've driven, as well as a (unfortunately rather small) list of the so called 'exotics' I had the pleasure of driving only once or a few times.

I'm trying to do this in order of appearance but as you know I am getting a bit older so ... bare with me. By the way, these are only the cars I drove for a longer period, not the loaners I got while mine was being serviced for example. Specially in my first IT years that list would have grown enormously had I included them too.

So here goes, 'my' car list:

1979 Honda Accord 1.6 3-door (my first love)*
1985 Volkswagen Polo Fox 1.4
1998 Honda Accord 2.0 sedan (first car ever I did 200+ kph in)
1988 Honda Civic 1.5 3-door*
1978 Honda Civic 1.3 5-door*
1992 Ford Taurus 3.8 LX wagon (King of the Road)*
1975 Suzuki Swift 0.8 3-door*
1964 Volvo Amazon P121 coupe (my prrreciousss :-)*
1998 Mazda 626 2.0 sedan
2001 Subaru Forester 2.0
2002 Subaru Legacy 2.0 GS wagon (cuiser extraordinaire)
1987 Citroen BX 1.4 (absolutely the worst car I've ever driven)
2000 Opel Astra sedan 1.6i
1979 Toyota Corolla sedan*
2000 Seat Cordoba 1.9SDi wagon
2004 Fiat Punto 1.4 JTDi
2004 Volkswagen Polo 1.9SDi 5-door (the famous IFO)
1966 Volvo Amazon P121 4-door saloon (my new prrreciousss ;-)*
1979 MGB GT V8 (Project-8)*
1976 MGB GT Costello Mk I V8 (the evil twin ;-)*
2000 Alfa Romeo 156 1.6 T-Spark
2001 Alfa Romeo 147 1.6 T-Spark

And these are a few exotics I was lucky enough to find myself behind the wheel of once or twice:

1972 Cadillac Coupe de Ville (this was the first car I legally drove, literally a few hours after I picked up my drivers license fresh from the press. What a start for an automotive 'career' :-)
1974 Porsche 911 Targa
1979 Chevrolet Corvette Shark (4-on-the-floor fun)
1996 Porsche Carrera 4
1998 Toyota Celica 2.0
1998 Subaru Impreza WRX STi (incredible 'woah' factor)
1975 MG-B Roadster
1975 Triumph TR6
1966 Triumph Spitfire 4 MkII
1973 MGB GT V8 (perfect cruise machine)
1976 MGB GT Costello Mk I V8 (the evil twin ;-)*
1972 Lancia 2000 HF in full rally trim (loud as h*ll!)
1979 Triumph TR-8 (tuned, and pretty damn quick!)

The ones marked with a * are or were my very own cars. The others were mostly company vehicles.

One extra car should have been listed amongst the exotics too but due to the circumstances then I never got to drive it. That car was the 1998 Honda NSX which Magnus once showed up with ... at my work ... Needless to say I couldn't leave at that specific moment and that was about the only time I really hated my work.

And I know, even when I had not been at work I may very well not have driven it that day anyway, but at least I would have know what it feels like when a couple of Japan's smartest engineering guys and some fellow named Ayrton Senna (was a rather fast bloke, you may have heard of him) come together and build a super car. ;-)
